Today, being one of the special days in the history of our
nation, we celebrate our 68th Independence day.
On this date we got independence but we were
still a semi-autonomous nation, called the dominion of India. Right after
26th day of 1950 India, when we got our constitution declared,
India was recognized as the Republic of India. By the time we hadn't got our
own constitution ready, we were still a polity under the influence of British rules.
Today, we heard our PM’s terrific speech. Beginning
his speech with , “I am here not
as Prime Minister but as Prime Servant of the country ”. He spoke
about very basic and prevalent issues nation is facing today. We heard him
speaking about the girl/boy child ratio in India. The issues of large import as
compared to small export. His slogan “Come, Make in India” to balance Indian import/export
statistics. He spoke about hygiene in rural India and to make at least one ideal
village in a region to set it as an example for others. This all is not merely the
responsibility of the govt. but the responsibility of an Individual too, he
added. Here he emphasized on individual's perspective to look for his duties
towards the nation. Moreover, the difference between the job and the service,
we heard. We should
not compromise. Zero defect and zero effect to the nature, he continued
and so on.
What I want to focus here is about
the individual of the nation. “We”; the common man of independent Republic of India,
are independent. Are we? This is the question we need to ask from ourselves. Are
we obliging to our obligations freely or is there any unethical conduct
stopping us from paying our duties. Here I meant to say is our thinking, what
perception do we have about ourselves and our surrounding. We need to build
ourselves to build the nation, like we say, Let the charity begin from home. Our
way of thinking is going to guide our acts. We need to change to make a change.
So, here we come back on the
freedom. Don’t prove yourself a dominion mind like a dominion nation. Define
your laws and make a republic character of yourself.
That reminded me of freedom from few lines
from my blog archive. Below is the link:
